This business is a well known and admired brand in its market.  It was established over 20 years ago and the owners now wish to sell to plan for their retirement.  There are nearly 40 employees, including administration/retail manager, store managers and retail sales staff, production, dispatch and administrative staff. 

It designs, manufactures and retails its own range of women’s business, elegant and smart casual wear, which are exclusively sold through its own chain of boutiques.  There are no wholesale sales to independent boutiques or department stores at the present time.

The business has relied on organic growth since its inception, without high profile advertising, but carefully maintains and keeps informed a customer base of over 18,000 registered customers.

The design focus is classy but classic and understated covering everything for the busy executive and for special occasions, as well as elegant casual wear for evenings out, weekends and travel.   Garments are designed to suit a broad age market of 25 to 50 plus and to meet the medium price point market.  However, its customer base predominantly consists of women in the 30s and 40s age bracket. 

In-house production capabilities include design, pattern-making and production of samples with the majority of garment manufacturing out-sourced.  The business retains control of the final stages of the production process, including warehousing, quality checks and dispatch to their stores.

Sales for the 2006 financial year were $5.9m with a normalised operating EBIT of $736,000 and returning the working owners over a $1m.  A similar result is expected for the 2007 year.

The price will be set by negotiation with interested parties.  The owners wish to sell the business as a going concern, including all customer lists, fixed assets, inventories, fit-outs and assignment of retail premises leases and transfer of employees.  In the interest of facilitating an effective transition, the owners are willing to assist in a hand-over period.
